Robert Uyetani Collegiate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) Salman Khetani has been appointed Associate Head of the Richard and Loan Hill Department of Biomedical Engineering.
As DGS for the department for the past four years, Khetani has focused on recruiting, retaining, and advancing graduate students. In his new role, he will drive efforts to expand departmental revenue through initiatives such as growing online graduate programs, strengthening alumni engagement through philanthropy, and increasing research and scholarly activity.
“Through innovative online and hybrid programs, I want to make graduate education more accessible for working professionals who may need flexible learning schedules,” Khetani said. “I also hope to deepen alumni engagement—encouraging them to sponsor scholarships, establish endowments, and mentor current students.”
“Additionally, I aim to foster collaboration among faculty to secure larger grants, leverage our department’s strengths, and create new opportunities for intellectual property development and licensing,” he said.
Khetani emphasized his commitment to strategic growth in partnership with Department Head Tom Royston, faculty, staff, and students.
“I look forward to working with our department leadership and community to advance our mission in multiple ways,” he said.
Khetani officially assumed his new role on January 1.
