Bioengineering PhD student receives grant from Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness to fund research into computer-aided diagnosis of retinal diseases

The Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness awarded Richard and Loan Hill Department of Bioengineering PhD student Minhaj Alam a $5,000 grant to help fund his research into the computer-aided diagnosis of retinal diseases.

Alam is working with UIC Richard and Loan Hill Professor Xincheng Yao and with the Biomedical Optics and Functional Imaging Laboratory at the university.

Alam said he also wanted to thank Professor of Ophthalmology Jennifer Lim and Interim Head of the Department of Ophthalmology R.V. Paul Chan for their support of his research.
