The 2024 Rising BME Scholars Regional Career Conference is part of a collaborative effort to recruit, strengthen, and diversify the next generation of academic researchers and educators in biomedical engineering.
This event will give participants the opportunity to learn from faculty and from each other about pathways to professional success and reward in academic careers.
Faculty and career sponsors from partnering institutions will be on-site to answer questions about academic careers in BME. Networking events and poster sessions will allow time for faculty-scholar interactions across a broad range of BME departments and universities.

travel tips ohare midway amtrak
Travel tips/logistics for those flying into O’Hare or Midway airports. While it is ok to use a rideshare from either airport for which you will be reimbursed (if receipt provided), we also encourage you to consider using the light rail, which is faster during some parts of the day and only $2.50 one-way (which can be reimbursed with receipt).
- From O’Hare. Take the blue line (only option) all the way to “Illinois Medical District” stop, which puts you within 200 yards of the hotel. (Take a train bound for “Forest Park”. Some only make it to “UIC/Halsted” stop, which is a few stops short of where you need to go.)
- From Midway. Take the orange line (only option) all the way to “Harold Washington Library” stop, and then transfer (no extra cost) to the pink line and take it to the “Polk Street” stop, which puts you within 300 yards of the hotel. Alternatively, at the elevated “Harold Washington” stop you can follow the signs to go to the underground blue line Jackson station and hop on the blue line to the “Illinois Medical District” stop (heading toward Forest Park).
- Amtrak to Union Station, you can walk a few blocks south from it and hop on the blue line at the “Clinton” station and take the train bound for “Forest Park” to the “Illinois Medical District” stop. Short ride.
