Leow sits on panel at AI congressional briefing event

Richard and Loan Hill Department of Biomedical Engineering Professor Alex Leow recently participated in a panel for “Inventing the Future: Brain-Inspired Next-Generation Artificial Intelligence.” This event was organized by the American Brain Coalition, American Academy of Neurology, American College of Neuropsychopharmacology, Simons Foundation, and Society for Neuroscience, in cooperation with the Congressional Neuroscience Caucus.
The congressional briefing brought together neuroscience and technology leaders to explore how discoveries about the brain shape the future of artificial intelligence. It aimed to provide members of Congress and their staff with a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges at the intersection of neuroscience and AI.
Leow was on a panel alongside Mala Murthy, Princeton Neuroscience Institute director, Sagi Perel, Google DeepMind director of research, and Leigh R. Hochberg, Massachusetts General Hospital, Brown University, and VA Providence Healthcare critical care neurologist and neuroscientist.
Former U.S. Representative Jennifer Wexton served as the key speaker, and NIH BRAIN Institute Director John Ngai served as a featured speaker.
Leow is also a professor in the UIC Psychology Department.
