Khetani receives Distinguished Research Award

Salman Khetani, a Richard and Loan Hill Department of Biomedical Engineering associate department head, director of graduate studies, and Robert Uyetani collegiate professor, has received a 2025-2026 UIC Distinguished Researcher Award.
The award, of which Khetani won in the Natural Sciences and Engineering category, recognizes a faculty member’s outstanding achievement in research in their respective field each year.
“I am deeply grateful to the outstanding trainees in my lab,” Khetani said. “Their hard work, curiosity, resilience, and commitment to excellence are at the heart of everything we accomplish together.”
He explained that this award means a lot because it reflects the shared efforts of a wonderful team and the opportunity to do meaningful work that advances science, engineering, and human health.
Khetani also said he looks forward to continuing to advance healthcare and mentor trainees in this process.
A ceremony will be held this spring to recognize award recipients.
