SUMMARY:1/27 - Hao Chen, UIC
DESCRIPTION:This is an in-person event in room COMRB 5175 on west campus (directions). You can also watch seminar live here>> Speaker: Hao Chen, Ph.D. Assistant Professor UIC, Department of Computer Science Title: Dissecting the Spatiotemporal Dynamics of Single Cells Using Machine Learning Abstract: Within organs, billions of cells of various types coordinate in both space and time to perform essential tissue functions. As technology advances, vast amounts of data have been collected to measure the molecular features of cells and intact tissues at unprecedented resolution, with the goal of elucidating the interactions among cellular communities and the underlying regulatory mechanisms crucial for understanding diseases and tissue functions. However, the complexity and noise within omics data present significant challenges for analysis. Machine learning algorithms, which address both the scale of data and its inherent stochasticity, have emerged as an effective solution. This seminar will discuss computational methods that leverage machine learning to reconstruct tissue structures at single-cell resolution and model the spatiotemporal dynamics of gene regulation and cellular communication, with applications in studying cellular senescence and tissue development. | Event post: https://bme.uic.edu/events?page_id=9802
