SUMMARY:4/16 - Casey J. Ankeny, Northwestern University
DESCRIPTION:Watch this webinar live with Zoom>> Title: Evidence-Based Strategies for In-Person and Remote Instruction Abstract: In this seminar, I will describe the implementation and assessment of several evidence-based strategies for both in-person and remote courses. More specifically, I will discuss the creation of virtual, inquiry-guided lab modules that allow for the collection of biomedically-relevant data by students remotely using readily available apps and cell phones. I will describe the design of mini-lectures with embedded pop-up questions and the collection of Muddiest Points to encourage asynchronous student engagement. I will demonstrate the implementation of standards-based grading with reflection to shift traditional, points-based assessment to formative assessment focusing on the mastery of course objectives. Lastly, I will provide strategies for developing community in an online platform by work within and across teams. | Event post: https://bme.uic.edu/events?page_id=6091
